Through the use of advanced equipment, ranging from the latest digital
photographic equipment up to the planetary scanner, Niola the company is able to
offer comprehensive and customized solutions to preserving, digitizing,
management and
networking of the historical-documentary in the field of cultural
heritage, contributing to the project of
Digital Library.
In detail, we take care of: organization and conversion of scanned images into digital objects and collections of metadata, creation of virtual books; pictures organized in chapters and volumes, files, for collections with the addition of full-text (such as comments, abstract, OCR); the creation of indexed database of digital documents; provision of software to search, view and print; the creation of digital libraries accessible in both local and geographical network.
The technology at our disposal allows us to preserve the original documents from wear of direct consultation and increase opportunities for enjoyment of them, from the perspective of compliance with international and national standards, with particular reference to application profile
MAG.
The scheme MAG - Management and Administrative Metadata - created and maintained by the MAG Committee ICCU, aims to provide formal specifications for the phase of collection, transfer and dissemination of metadata and digital data in their archives.
As an application profile, MAG interacts and interoperable with all major international standards for encoding metadata. In some cases, in fact, MAG taking any other encoding schemes (Dublin Core, NISO), in other cases, however, can be transformed into different formats (MAG versus METS and MPEG-21).
